printmaking/photography week3

26/07/2018  THURSDAY

USING THE PINHOLE CAMERAS

Today we loaded our pinhole cameras with the photo paper inside the dark room
Chris gave us a tour guide through the dark room and how to use it.
safety talk, if you have any respiratory problems there is some masks to wear.

light to worn people not to enter the room, as if photo paper is exposed to the light it will be ruined an unusable.

When you enter the room, there are lab coats so you don't get chemicals onto your clothes....

When developing your print, you do not mix chemicals together, use separate tongs for the different treys.
treys are clearly labeled on the front.

You submerge the photo paper you want developed into developing chemical,(60 SEC) next you put it into the trey that says STOP ,(30SEC) which is water, next is the trey labelled Fixture...(30SEC)

then you Submerge it in the sink filled with tap water for (2-3 minutes)

After taping our photo paper in the inside of our pinhole cameras, opposite to the pinhole side... then closing up the cameras and taping any
sides light may get in.....

We went out in groups of 5, me and Stephen decided we would do a picture with each other in it, standing in the S.I.T. ARCADE .... Stephen stood reasonably still for my picture,
I decided to gradually move positions.
We opened our shutter for 2MINUTES.

Outside was clouding and not luring sunlight.

We will see how our prints turned out, and maybe alter the timing next time if exposure did not give us the picture we wanted..

Taking our cameras back into the dark room and turning the normal lights off,
we then proceed to develop our prints as
THIS IS MY PINHOLE CAMERA KIWI
OPENS AT THE BOTTEM, bottem legs are attached via elastic and are removable for use.

PHOTO OUTCOME NO1

My photo came out very white with just a few black marks on it. you can almost make out the depth of the arcade..... not sure what the two black dots are from?
 SADFACE.

CONCLUSION
I feel that light must have exposed in my camera, i had a feeling my shutter was not shut very well, so next time i think i will tape down my shutter fully, before and after using it.
